Hotel
Like the movie Time Code, this experimental ensemble piece splits the screen into four simultaneous story lines: the filming of a "period movie," a documentary about the making of that movie, a murder plot and a bizarre maid service. The four disjointed tales ultimately converge during festivities of the Venice Carnival. Mike Figgis directs a stellar cast that includes Max Beesley, Saffron Burrows, Salma Hayek, Rhys Ifans and Jason Isaacs.

Duck Soup
The Marx Brothers are at their sidesplitting best in this raucous political satire, which teems with razor-sharp humor. Rashomon
Considered one of Japanese director Akira Kurosawa's masterpieces, this Oscar-winning crime drama unfolds as four witnesses to a rape and murder report their versions of the attack, leaving the viewer to decide what really happened. But the chain of events depicted by the bandit (Toshiro Mifune), the rape victim (Machiko Kyo), the murdered man's ghost (Masayuki Mori) and the woodcutter (Takashi Shimura) have more differences than similarities.

The Girlfriend Experience
Filmed in about two weeks on a budget of less than $2 million, director Steven Soderbergh's experimental feature focuses on the life of a high-priced New York City call girl, played by bona fide porn star Sasha Grey. The movie tells its tale in nonlinear fashion, throwing random scenes at the viewer, who must piece together the puzzle to understand the story. Other than Grey, the actors are nonprofessionals who improvised many of their scenes.
